Daquan’s Life Journey:
Daquan was our greatest hero. His character exemplifies all that is good. Daquan had a heart larger than life, did the right things towards others, and was willing to assist in making a positive change in someone's life. It was impossible not to love him. Education, basketball, dancing, video games, and being around family were very important to him. Daquan was definitely a mama's baby, a great brother, cousin, and a friend to many! In April 2015 Daquan and his family lives changed for the worst when he was diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia, a rare bone marrow disease. His countless doctor appointments, blood transfusions, low immune system, and a need for constant care required him to be home schooled. In early June 2015, three bone marrow matches were found for Daquan that resulted in he and his family relocating to Wolfson Children Hospital in Jacksonille, Florida. Within a week Daquan began receiving chemotherapy. On July 10, 2015, Daquan received a bone marrow transplant and additional chemotherapy treatments; everything went very well. We were proud to know that we were the first family Daquan's doctor allowed to go home before his 100 day mark due to his remarkable response to his treatment.
